Cathie Fergus was born and raised in Tullahoma, TN. She grew up riding bareback through the hills, learning to jump, going on overnight trail rides and just having a great time!
Cathie attended MTSU , initially majoring in Graphic Art, later switching to Animal Science. Cathie’s first exposure to Dressage and Combined Training came with her first job in the industry at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tn. She began competing in dressage and eventing and has never looked back.

Through the years, Cathie’s love of horses and dressage has kept her into training and instructing not only in Sewanee, but also Tullahoma, Franklin, Tn. And Lexington, Ky. She currently lives and trains with Four Rivers Sport Horse Center,LLC in Paducah, Ky.

Cathie is a USDF Bronze Medalist and has completed 3 of the 4 scores required for her Silver Medal. Cathie’s long time and much loved partner, Farley, a TB gelding by Secretariat had to be retired before their final qualifying score.

Cathie is currently enrolled in the USDF “L” program for judges. She is head trainer for Four Rivers Sport Horse Center, LLC in Paducah, Ky. She is active in training and competing various horses for her clients, including FRSHC’s Friesian stallion, Wilco B.L. She’s been instrumental in the success of the local Four River’s Pony Club, and has many students ranging in ages 5 to 70+. Many of whom are active, successful competitors.

Cathie is the mother of two wonderful children, Zannie Leia Brewer and Zachary Fergus Thacker. They also have a variety of great dogs.
